Peace!

On Friday, we did Play Make Create. This is where the teacher reads you a story and you discuss the message in the story. Then you create something based on the message and also do a piece of writing. You can use materials or make a digital creation.  This week Mrs Craig Read the book: I am peace. It was about a how to control your feelings.

I chose to make a peace tree and a poem!

We also practised solving problems using place value or known facts knowledge. Here is a selection of my work, hope you like it!

When I transformed into a Beatle!!

Because we were using ‘Insects’ as a topic this week for reading and writing we created some works of art based on insects . We had to make them out of any materials we could find at home. I chose to use some cardboard, and coloured paper. We also got to write an imaginary story about what it might feel like if you underwent metamorphosis like insects do.

There is a photo of my creation at the bottom of this page under my writing. I hope you enjoy!

Chocolate

This writing task was about a language experience. Our teachers brought different kinds of chocolate to school and we got to eat it! We tried white chocolate, milk chocolate, dark chocolate, caramel chocolate and pink chocolate. We could write about it in any way we liked but our teachers hoped we would use lots of describing language and our senses.

The old Church.

One of our writing activities this week was to write about the old church next to our school using lots of adjectives, adverbs and other kinds of descriptive language. First we all went over to the church to look at the outside of it and use our senses to notice all the building’s colours, textures and shapes. Here is my work.

My Couplet Poem.

We are learning how to write a couplet poem. We looked at an example on page 32  of SJ 1.4 1992. Then we had to choose our own noun, two opposite adjectives to describe it, think of rhyming words for the end of each line and finish the last line with a onomatopoeia word repeated 3 times. Here is my work.

Hello / Kia Ora
YAY the day we had all been waiting for had finally come! THE SKI TRIP. First we all unpacked our bags from the bus then we all brushed our teeth then BED. In the morning we had to wake up at 6:30! Oh well we had some breakfast then we got dressed into our ski clothes. So we got onto the bus and drove up the mountain. That's me skiing, I had so much fun too. My hands froze like ice. That was the coldest place I've ever been to! That's all for today bye bye!

OUR BUG HOTEL

We have made a bug hotel, because we want all of our good bugs to live nicely, and calmly, so that is why we have made a bug hotel. We learned that good bugs kill weeds, bugs help us to recycle scraps by eating them, good bugs pollinate our plants so we have food to eat! It was fun making our bug hotel.
I used hay, flowers, twigs and bamboo to help make a cozy home for our good garden bugs!
