Vaseline Saucer 2021!

 Kai Ora!

We have Pet Day at Ohaeawai School every year and one of the activities we do is to create a symmetrical design on a saucer using flower petals. You put Vaseline on the saucer first to make the flowers stick. That’s why they are called Vaseline Saucers. Here is a pic of me with mine Hope you enjoy!

Mosiac art!

 We have been learning about using apps on our Chromebook to create images that look like mosaics or stained glass windows. We used Google Draw to make some and some people also used Sumopaint. Here is the image I made using Sumopaint/Google Draw. I chose some daises because I think they are pretty!

Frank Stella art! 2021

 We have been learning about abstract art. It’s all about creating works of art that don’t actually look like anything. We focused on the American artist Frank Stella, who liked to make pictures using shapes like circles, triangles and rectangles.

Last week as part of our Whare Tapa Wha learning we sketched important people in our families. We then used water colours to paint our pictures.

What I like about my art is that my family looks really happy.

Measurement-head / feet

 Hello

A couple of weeks ago we were learning about measurement like head circumfrance, and foot cicumfrance. Here is what i have done... I have the biggest head!

Chicken diva art

Today we made some Chicken diva art.
First we sketched out the chicken body first.
Then we coloured the inside of the chicken with pastel.
Then we decorated the chicken with beads and other shiny things.

Matariki art

Today I made this Octopus which in maori is called a Wheke. In maori the Wheke was a gardian.

What was hard: Around the head, the eyes and the family maori design.

What was easy: Everything else was very easy.

Pet day

Today is our school pet Day. We made vaseline saucers using flower petals. Here is my saucer.

Alien

Today we learnt how to create a mine craft style character in google sheets. We created an Alien. Here is mine.

Self Portrait Art

We have been learning how to sketch our facial features. We needed to put
them in the right place on our face. For our background we typed our full name
and learned to copy and paste down the page.

Art

This term we have completed two pieces of art. One was inspired by an artist named Kadinsky who used coloured circles in his work. We looked at the contrast between warm and cool colours and the black and white of the buildings.

Our second piece was using the Maori words we have learnt and using these to create a visual picture. The words become the shape of the picture.

One thing I did well was some very very nice colours.

One thing I could improve on is the placement of my fruit.
